Statmint started in Johor Bahru after a straightforward observation: many small-business owners and working professionals encountered financial statements regularly — through their accountants, their banks, or their own bookkeeping — but had little context for interpreting what they were actually reading.
They were not looking for someone to manage their money. They were looking to understand what the numbers on the page were telling them. That distinction mattered to us.
We built our first program around annotated sample documents, plain-language definitions, and the kind of patient explanation that accountants rarely have time to provide in a client meeting. The response was clear: people wanted this, and they wanted it structured.
Since then, Statmint has grown into a three-program curriculum designed to take learners from no background to genuine reading fluency — at their own pace, in their own time, without pressure or sales language. We are based in Johor Bahru and serve learners across Malaysia.

Spent over a decade in corporate finance before turning his attention to adult education. Ahmad leads curriculum design and facilitates the comprehensive program's live sessions.

All annotated documents and worksheets are reviewed for factual accuracy against current accounting standards before each program intake.
Learner Data Privacy
Enrolment information is held securely and used only for program communication. We do not share participant data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Queries from enrolled learners are addressed within one working day. Facilitators are reachable throughout the duration of each program.

Financial Statement Literacy in Malaysia
Reading a financial statement is a skill, not an innate ability. It requires familiarity with specific vocabulary, an understanding of how each section relates to the others, and enough practice with real-looking documents to build confidence. That combination of knowledge and practice is what our programs are built around.
Statmint works with three distinct learner profiles. The first is the business owner — often someone running an SME in Johor or surrounding states — who receives statements from their accountant but wants to engage more actively with the numbers rather than simply sign off on them. The second is the working professional: someone in finance-adjacent roles, operations, or management who encounters financial documents regularly but has never had a structured opportunity to learn how to read them properly. The third is the curious individual who has taken an interest in understanding how organisations represent their financial position — a learner motivated by general knowledge rather than immediate professional need.
Our approach keeps all three profiles in mind. Materials are designed to be relevant whether a learner is looking at their own business accounts, evaluating a potential employer's filing, or simply trying to make sense of what they read in the news.

Our programs are priced transparently, delivered in a structured format, and framed consistently as educational content rather than advisory services.
